The word “Armageddon” comes from a Hebrew word Har-Magedone, which means “Mount Megiddo” and has become synonymous with the future battle in which God will intervene and destroy the armies of the Antichrist as predicted in biblical prophecy (Revelation 16:16; 20:1-3, 7-10). There will be a multitude of people engaged in the battle of Armageddon, as all the nations gather together to fight against Christ.
The exact location of the valley of Armageddon is unclear because there is no mountain called Megiddo. However, since “Har” can also mean hill, the most likely location is the hill country surrounding the plain of Megiddo, some sixty miles north of Jerusalem. More than two hundred battles have been fought in that region. The Plain of Megiddo and the nearby Plain of Esdraelon will be the focal point for the Battle of Armageddon, which will rage the entire length of Israel as far south as the Edomite city of Bozrah (Isaiah 63:1). The valley of Armageddon was famous for two great victories in Israel’s history: 1) Barak’s victory over the Canaanites (Judges 4:15) and 2) Gideon’s victory over the Midianites (Judges 7). Armageddon was also the site for two great tragedies: 1) the death of Saul and his sons (1 Samuel 31:8) and 2) the death of King Josiah (2 Kings 23:29-30; 2 Chronicles 35:22).
Because of this history, the valley of Armageddon became a symbol of the final conflict between God and the forces of evil. The word “Armageddon” only occurs in Revelation 16:16, “Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.” This speaks of the kings who are loyal to the Antichrist gathering together for a final assault on Israel. At Armageddon “the cup filled with the wine of the fury of [God’s] wrath” (Revelation 16:19) will be delivered, and the Antichrist and his followers will be overthrown and defeated. “Armageddon” has become a general term that refers to the end of the world, not exclusively to the battle that takes place in the plain of Megiddo.
To understand the timing for the Battle of Armageddon we need to realize that the book of Revelation is revealing us the sequence of events. The book is mainly a vision of a scroll sealed with seven seals which are opened SEQUENTIALLY. After the seventh and last seal is opened, John sees seven angels with seven trumpets. After the seventh angel blows his trumpet, (Revelation 11:15) John sees seven angels with the Seven Bowls of Wrath. It is at the end of the Sixth Bowls of Wrath that the events leading to the Battle of Armageddon start to unfold.
Satan is deceiving the leaders of the world, preparing them for the Battle of Armageddon, which as we read in Revelation 16:14 is also called "the war of the great day of God the Almighty." I've included this map of Israel so the reader could locate the Plain of Esdraelon where the armies will congregate against Jerusalem.
At the end of the Seventh Bowls of Wrath everything is ready for the return of Christ and His armies to wrestle one of the most important battles against the forces of evil.
The deceived humans would have been fed a constant lie by the media and will believe that the attacking forces are aliens coming from outer space -- very rightly so, but these "aliens" are actually Christ and His armies. The humans on Earth will be fighting God Himself, just as they did during the first coming of Christ, in which they crucified Him. The difference now is that Christ is not coming to Earth as the Lamb to allow Himself to be slaughtered; He is returning as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and HE WILL WIN this battle against Satan.
Revelation 16:17
Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, "It is done." Revelation 16:18 And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a GREAT EARTHQUAKE, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty.
Revelation 16:19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath. Revelation 16:20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
In Revelation 17, the angel describes to John who Babylon the Great is, and how the kings of the earth delegate their power to a one-world government leader called "the beast." This interjection in the sequence of events leading to the Battle of Armageddon is necessary in order for us to understand that the battle against Christ and His armies is made possible because at that time there will be a one-world government of the beast (similar to the United Nations nowadays). This will make it easier to congregate a great army to fight Christ. Revelation 19:7 Then he said to me, "Write, Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are true words of God Revelation 19:17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather together for the
NOW THIS IS THE GOOD PART!
Jeremiah 33:3
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
FAMINE IS SURE TO COME - WHY WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO PREPARE?
Revelation Chapter 3, Verse 3:
3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
As Joseph gathered up food for seven years in the land of Egypt, so should we provide and seek provisions for our loved ones and household.
As Tim LaHaye wrote in his book "Global Warning", THE WORLD IS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE. We have become more and more vulnerable to disasters of global proportions. Terrorist attacks are growing in number and intensity and the signs are all around us. Many are saying that soon, very soon there is going to be a major earthquake in America that will almost divide the United States from the North to the South. If you have not read Tim LaHaye's book, you should as it is very informative about the end time events. With the rapture coming suddenly, for those left behind there will be a world wide recognition of the fact that millions of people have disappeared. Fear and panic will grip us all with an ensuing outcry of sorrow, loss, and panic resulting in chaos. Health care workers will be missing, law enforcement, teachers, farmers, emergency personnel, etc. and the very businesses that we depend on for our food, electricity, and water could be quickly out of business.
There is one way that America could fail and that is if our nation chooses to dishonor God and ignore His holy words.
Revelation 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there by any more pain: for the former things are passed away".
